UPDATE – MHP Gives More Details On Fatal Weekend Wrecks

STARKVILLE, MS (WCBI) – An early morning accident in Lowndes County has killed a Sulligent Alabama man.

CAR ACCIDENT

Trooper Greg Bell says 23 year old Tyler Shuford of Sulligent died when his pickup ran of the side of Highway 12 and when Shuford tried to regain control he over  corrected and flipped.  He was thrown from the truck and pronounced dead on the scene by Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant

The Lowndes County wreck comes just 12 hours after another fatal collision This one in Calhoun County.  The Highway patrol says around 5:30 Saturday afternoon two cars headed east on Highway 8 near the intersection of Highway nine collided.  A SUV was rear ended by a Toyota Camry causing both to leave the road and the GMC Jimmy to flip.  A passenger in that GMC 64 year old Gladys Jennings of Calhoun City died from injuries received. The driver 55 year old Gloria Lawrence of Calhoun City was flown to Memphis with life threatening injuries and a two year old toddler was airlifted to Lebohneur where the child remains in critical condition.  The driver of the second car was not hurt. The accident remains under investigation but no charges have been filed at this time.
