Vandals strike at J.L. King Park in Starkville, city leaders react
STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – J.L. King Park in Starkville was the target of some vandals over the weekend.
The new bathroom facilities, next to the new playground, were found with shattered sides and exposed walls.
The repair should be a simple fix, but Starkville leaders want their residents to know that their parks are safe.
“I think it’s appropriate for us to look at it as we go forward and try to make our parks nice. We want them to be safe, we want people to feel like it’s where they can go and be comfortable,” Mayor Lynn Spruill continued. “We’re going to address it. We’re going to put up security cameras and maybe more lighting. Then, we’ll fix it and pay attention to some of those things that are in public like that so that we try and keep it from happening again.”
With security measures taken early, Mayor Lynn Spruill says hopefully the vandalism will stop.
