Video: 39th annual Prairie Arts Festival underway

WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI)- The 39th annual Prairie Arts Festival has come and gone without a hitch. Organizers say this festival has come a long way since its debut in 1978.

The annual Labor Day weekend festival has more than 300 vendors and around 20,000 attendees. In addition to art, crafts and food vendors, festival going families can stop at several areas designated just for kids.

Mississippi House District 38 seat candidate, Cheikh Taylor says an event like this is perfect to reach out to constituents.

“If you don’t listen to the people you never know what the real needs are. If you get into that office and you think you know everything that maybe a problem. Out here you hear the real voices of the people,” said Taylor.

The Southeast Tourism Society recognized the Prairies Arts Festival as a top 20 event.
