ABERDEEN, Miss.(WCBI)—Aberdeen Elementary School hosted an event to highlight student’s good behavior.

The students have a chance throughout the 9 weeks to earn a bulldog bucks and participate in the Positive Behavioral Intervention and Support event.

The school partnered with The Aberdeen Fire Department to share safety tips while the students enjoyed dancing, playing games and even getting to get on the fire truck.

Assistant Principal Kristen Fonderen says they do a lot of punishing, it’s nice to do some rewarding as well.

“Well usually when children have some kind of bad behavior…we punish. Well this year we tried to take a different approach by rewarding the positive behavior. So every time they follow that bull dogs B.A.R.K. of Being Responsible Always respectful Ready for their next level and Kind to others,” said Fonderen.

The next Positive Behavioral Intervention and Support event will be in the Spring
