VIDEO: Breast Cancer Awareness Brunch

STARKVILLE, Miss.(WCBI)–Another local group came together to raise awareness about another prominent illness today!

The Starkville chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority kicks off Breast Cancer Awareness month by sharing stories of survival.

The sorority hosted the “Pink Heals Brunch” this morning at Central Station Grill.

Women who have battled and beat breast cancer and those still in treatment shared their stories.

The sorority partnered with the Starkville Fire Department for the event.

They also sold “Pink Heals” t-shirts.

Proceeds from the sales helped them award grants to five uninsured women to have mammograms performed.

They will award more grants at the sorority’s health fair in June of 2017.
