VIDEO: Bulldogs Prepare For Long Trip West At BYU

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — The Mississippi State Bulldogs will look to move on from yet another difficult loss, this time at the hands of the Auburn Tigers.

The team has a long road trip ahead, heading west to take on the BYU Cougars in a rare Friday night game.

The tale of two halves continues for the Bulldogs, as the young football team has simply struggled to put a full 60-minute game together this season.

“The best way I know how to deal with adversity is to get back to work”, head coach Dan Mullen said.

“Since I’ve been here, that has always been our deal. We’ve faced all kinds of highs and lows in the eight years that I’ve been here. To be honest, to deal with the high, you get back to work. You deal with the lows, you get back to work, so that’s the mindset we’ve had with the guys on the team.”

Mullen is a perfect 8-0 in his time with Mississippi State in non-conference road match-ups.

BYU is one of the more efficient teams in the red zone, thanks to dual threat senior quarterback Taysom Hill.

Mullen compared the sixth-year senior to former Florida Gator star Tim Tebow, and said Hill’s playmaking ability is what makes BYU so effective in the red area.

“The challenge with them is when they have a quarterback like that…that’s another weapon in the red zone”, said Mullen.

“It makes them a very, very dangerous team. They got an excellent running back, they got size on the outside at receiver, and then if you try to take that all away, they have a guy that can make things happen on his at the quarterback position. That’s what, to be honest, when we’ve had great red zone offenses, that’s a good recipe for it right there.”
