Video: Choctaw County Not Changing Ambulance Service
CHOCTAW COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Choctaw County will keep its current ambulance service.
Supervisors voted 3 to 2 to stay with MedStat.
The county began researching other services this year, including LifeCare out of Carthage.
Board President, Joey Stephenson says both are good organizations, but there was one difference between the two that made the decision.
“The Board of Supervisors, some of our, our Fire Coordinator, some other county, Chancery Clerk, and some other county officials went and looked at their dispatching facilities, and it was a big difference in them, you know, MedStat was, MedStat’s dispatching tied more into our 911 service.”
The county pays 15% more for MedStat, but Stephenson says they have more resources.
MedStat will provide two ambulances under the agreement.
The ambulance located in French Camp is moving to Weir for better service, and one will be stationed in Ackerman.
