VIDEO: Columbus PD Collects Turkeys for Annual Turkey Drive

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Columbus police officers are making sure neighbors in need will enjoy a Thanksgiving feast.

The department has kicked off its annual turkey drive.

You can take your turkeys to the east entrance of Columbus PD headquarters and the Parks and Recreation Department.

The turkeys will help provide a thanksgiving meal to more than 1400 disabled and needy Senior Citizens in Columbus.

“It’s really, you know, Columbus looking out for their own. They’re looking out for their people. This is a community thing; anyone can participate. It’s not just drop the turkey off then carry it to someone’s door. No. We prepare the meal and we take them the meal, so they’re actually getting fed by somebody,” said Columbus PD Benefits Committee member, Donna Hankee.

Columbus PD is also taking monetary donations.

If you send a check, make it payable to the Parks and Recreation Department, with Turkey Drive in the memo.
