VIDEO: Day One Leadership Lends A Helping Hand To Boys And Girls Club

COLUMBUS, Miss.(WCBI)- Well some Columbus High School students spent their Saturday giving back.

As a part of the day one leadership program, The Columbus Boys and Girls club is receiving “safe spaces” in each classroom.

The goal is to furnish each classroom with a hand painted mural, rugs and books to encourage academic excellence.

Day One Leadership Fellow Hanna Whitlock says being able to help the kids is so rewarding.

“Especially with the boys and girls club there giving to a group of children who need help and we’re here a few times a week helping with homework and helping them have academic success and also just being a friend for them and being some one what can be here when their having a bad day and that they can talk to,” said Whitlock.

The Day One Leadership Program does several projects every year.
