VIDEO: After Decades Of Searching, Three Long-Lost Sisters Finally Meet For The First Time Ever
NOXAPATER, Miss. (WCBI)-Mary Louise Phillips has spent the past several years searching tirelessly for the two sisters she never met.
Phillips didn’t grow up with any of her siblings. She would often wonder whether she had any that she just didn’t know about.
In May, she got her answer when she found out she had two younger sisters, Delories Fears Jones and Gwendylon Fears.
This past weekend, the trio of sisters connected for the first time.
“That’s the happiest moment of my life,” said Phillips about meeting her sisters for the first time. “It’s just been tremendous, I just love them. I love them to death.”
“She definitely looks like my father, and he has a sister, and she looks like her too,” Gwendylon Fears said describing Phillips.
Fears and Jones grew up together. They said their father would always told them they have an older sister who they haven’t met.
“He was always around us and always talking about his daughter,” said Delories Fears Jones, Phillips’ youngest sister. “There was never a time that he did not mention his daughter, because I would say, daddy where is my my sister.”
Jones immediately started searching for Phillips, but then ran into some trouble.
Her father had forgotten Phillips’ name.
“He didn’t know her name, but he knew her mother’s name,” Jones recalled. “He said her name was Ida Mae Turner from Ackerman, Mississippi. I said daddy where is Ackerman and is she there? He said no, she’s in Michigan, but it wasn’t Michigan.”
But then a relative stepped in to help.
Phillips’ grandson, Micheal Lawrence, turned to Facebook and ancestry.com to help connect the long lost sisters.
“That’s how this all came together, because of people just being really helpful on Facebook in the group message, and then them just being willing, and the grandfather sharing the information with them that he had this child,” said Lawrence.
“To be here with her now is truly awesome because we love her from the bottom of our hearts. And we’re going to do everything to let her know, I always know that she has two sisters.”
“For them to come to me, that was amazing,” said Phillips. “One is from Chicago, one is from Toledo Ohio, and to me who would think that they would put forth the effort to come see somebody that they’ve never met.”
