Video: DJ Sanders Honored by Lowndes County Board of Supervisors

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — She’s taking the softball world by storm and it’s making waves here in Columbus.

New Hope graduate DJ Sanders continues to dominate at the collegiate level playing shortstop at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette.

She led the nation in home runs as a junior with 28 and on Monday, she was honored for her performance on the diamond.

The Lowndes County Board of Supervisors honored Sanders with a resolution certificate for her accomplishments.

“It’s obviously an honor but I don’t play a one person sport,” said Sanders. “It’s really a testament of how great my teammates are and how wonderful coaches I have and all the people who helped me get here and my parents.”

Sanders will return to Lafayette for her senior season this upcoming year.
