COLUMBUS, Miss.(WCBI)—Drug and Alcohol abuse continues to climb among teens across the country but one local group says its time to turn the tide. Community Counseling services rolled out its prevention event at Columbus High School.
CCS is a non profit which spends much of its time counseling teens about the hazards of abuse and helping teens who are already struggling with addiction.
Celebrity Judge Glenda Hatchett told the crowd that even though some of the cases seen on her syndicated show can be amusing there is nothing funny about letting abuse land you in legal trouble.
“And I see too many good kids come through my court room because they were running with the wrong crowd. And That’s why parents have got to keep a close eye on who their kids are with and what they are doing,” says Hatchett.
Community Counseling services says it also hopes today’s event will spark a renewed interest in volunteering to help with it’s mission which serves five counties in the region.
