VIDEO: Emergency Care For Pets
STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)- You may have noticed most clinics and businesses were closed on Monday due to the Labor Day Holiday.
However, one place wasn’t, Mississippi State’s Animal Health Center had it’s doors open all weekend.
The center’s actually open 24-7.
Workers with the health center said there was a steady flow of business over the holiday weekend.
Cats, dogs, and other small animals all came through their doors.
Heat strokes were a common illness that many of the animals were suffering from.
Doctors at the health center said they understand and take pride in being able to provide specialty and emergency care to the animals during their time of need.
“We’re open at various times, we’re open late at night to provide care for animals that come to us. People can present their animals here at times when maybe their local veterinarian would not be open, and then depending how their animal is and how severe it is we can keep them in the hospital and we can take care of them until the university opens again,” said Dr. Conor Moloney, a Small Animal Rotation Intern at the Animal Health Center.
Workers said most of the time, if a person’s vet is off or unable to get to them, the vet will then refer the client to the Animal Health Center for treatment.
