Video: First Responders Battle for Blood Donations

EUPORA, Miss. (WCBI) — Some local first responders are using a little friendly competition to save lives.

Webster County and Eupora law enforcement – along with firefighters – teamed up with Mississippi Blood Services to sponsor a blood drive, Wednesday.

In the”Battle of the Badges,” first responders competed to see who could recruit the most donors, and save the most lives.

One donor tells WCBI he knows first hand the importance of giving blood, after his family was killed in a recent accident.

“When you lose your wife and your youngin’ in a car wreck, and there’s no way they can save them then, when you get a chance to give, so somebody else can survive, yes, that’s the right way to do it,” said donor James Fales.

Donors get a limited edition t-shirt, and the chance to win a 2016 Jeep Renegade.
