VIDEO: Former Hilltopper Carter Signs With Blue Mountain

FULTON, MS (WCBI / ICC) – Itawamba Community College head baseball coach Rick Collier announced sophomore Reid Carter (Houston) has signed to continue his career at Blue Mountain College next season.

Carter batted .450 in 38 games with 50 hits, 13 going for extra bases, and 33 runs batted in to go along with 32 runs scored to help lead the Hilltoppers to the program’s first trip to MHSAA Class 4A championship series as senior at Houston High School. He was selected to participate in the NEMCABB Senior All-Star game and was named Class 4A All-State First Team, 4-4A All-Division, Team Captain, Team MVP, and Best Starting Pitcher.

“We’re excited about having Reid…”, Collier said, “…he’ll pitch a lot of innings for us this time.”

Collier also said Carter has a chance to be a starting pitcher or come out of the bullpen in relief.

The left-handed pitcher played in nine games for Northeast Mississippi Community College as a freshman before transferring to ICC this season.

The Indians will open the season on the road against Calhoun (AL) Community College and Southwest Tennessee Community College before hosting Rend Lake (IL) College for their home opener on Sunday, February 19 at Cresap Field.
