VIDEO: Free School Supply Giveaway

LOUISVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)-

Louisville’s annual “Back to School Stay in School Rally” kicked off earlier today.

The rally is an event that seeks to inspire but also allows Winston County students to start the year with a full set of school supplies.

This year’s guest speaker was Andre Sims.

Sims is a 2002 graduate of Louisville schools and a principal in Holly Springs.

Organizers hope Sim’s speech will motivate students and remind them of the importance of academics and staying in school.

“We know that there’s a lot of peoples that are hurting in this community… and just don’t have the money and so we just want to make sure we give back to the community, the community gives to us. We give back to the community.” said Webster.

Sims earned his degrees in elementary education from the university of Mississippi.

The annual rally is sponsored by the Winston County NAACP in partnership with the Louisville Municipal School District.
