Video: A Historical Replica Lands At A Local Park

WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) – A local town welcomes a historical addition to one of their parks.

West Point held a Statue of Liberty Dedication at the Kitty Dill Walkway to honor the replica of the Statue of Liberty.

The West Point Community Foundation and former Mayor Kenny Dill are responsible for the gift.

Mayor Robbie Robinson hopes to use the statue as an educational tool.

“We want to emphasize, you can see young people around here, what the Statue of Liberty means, and it’s liberty for all. It’s liberty for the huddle masses from around the world. We don’t want them to loose the sense of history, our young people I’m speaking of here in West Point.”

The statue is located at Church Hill entrance to the walkway.

Columbus Marble Works is responsible for the statue’s marble.
