Video: Leaders Reexamine Budget for Police Headquarters
STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — Budget woes continue to hamper Starkville’s plan for a new police headquarters.
Aldermen voted not to make a decision just yet on re-advertising the bids.
They may look to stop the renovation project, and instead build a new facility.
City leaders decided to give the police chief and project architect one week to collaborate on changes for the program to be able to reach budget requirements.
The building for the police station contains many problems, including asbestos.
After the week is up, the aldermen will have a special-called meeting to get a detailed report, before moving forward with a vote.
If the board continues with renovation plans, they’ll re-advertise for bids, but at the architect’s expense.
