Video: Mississippi State Bulldogs Make 7th Bowl Game Run In A Row
STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)—For the 7th year in a row the Mississippi State Bulldogs are going bowling. The Bulldogs defeated Ole Miss 55 to 20 in the Egg Bowl. Now, the team sets their eyes on the St. Petersburg Bowl in Florida.
For a trip this large preparations must be made.
They may be the only ones left on campus. But that’s okay. Mississippi State Athletic Director John Cohen says the Bulldogs are excited to head to a bowl game this year.
“We are just so honored that the St. Petersburg Bowl has chosen us and allowed us to participate and I think it’s a great opportunity for our fans for alumni and our football team and uh um playing so well at the end of the year and we look forward to seeing the development of some young players.”
The MSU bowl game will be in the Tampa Florida area this year. Cohen says it’s a long trip but it shouldn’t put a damper on the support from the crowd.
“Because it’s a unique time of year because our bowl is the day after Christmas. We certainly… none of our students groups are being forced to come it’s strictly voluntary but we’ve had a really nice response and I think that we’ll have a very representative crowd.”
Cohen just completed the transition from head baseball coach to . He says he’s always admired the hard work and dedication Coach Dan Mullen displays with the team each year.
“Certainly it’s seven bowls in a row and what a great uhhhh complement to Coach Dan Mullen and his team uh he’s just done a great job with this football program 7 bowls in a row is unprecedented. We’re so proud of him and what these kids have done.
The St.Petersburg Bowl Game will be televised at 10 AM Central on ESPN.
