Video: MUW Hosts First-Ever Men’s Sporting Event on Wednesday Evening

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — History was made Wednesday night in Columbus.

The Mississippi University for Women hosted their first ever men’s sporting event on Wednesday night at the downtown Columbus Soccer Club in an exhibition soccer match versus East Central Community College.

Under the direction of head coach Tim Gould, the Owls were able to get plenty of shots on target but ultimately fell to the Warriors 5-0 on Wednesday.

MUW’s men’s soccer team features 21 freshmen on a roster of 30 players. The team is comprised of Mississippi natives plus players from Tennessee, Alabama, Louisiana, Illinois and California.

The regular season home opener for the Owls soccer team will be Wednesday, September 6th when MUW hosts Concordia-Alabama. The Owls will play other NCAA Division III schools when they travel to Georgia on the weekend of September 1st.
