NEW ORLEANS, La. (WCBI) – It’s super bowl week in New Orleans! Thousands of people from across the country are headed to the Big Easy to watch the game. Along with enjoying the fun of the city, take a step outside the French Quarter and you will also find unique old-time charm. In the Garden District southern hospitality is at its finest.

Oak trees lining the streets, birds chirping in the air and the street car rolling; right in the heart of the Garden District the historic Park View Guest House has been transformed into a beautiful bed and breakfast. Built in 1884 as a hotel, the Park View has welcomed visitors to New Orleans for more than 125 years. It’s family environment and one of a kind charm keep guests coming back.

“A lot of people always say they feel like they’re staying at their old aunt’s house, or like they’ve gone to visit family. They come downstairs and enjoy their breakfast, the kids come down in their pajamas with blankets. So we have a very warm family atmosphere here,” said Ronda Vezina, the Park View Guest House cook.

Each room is filled with the Creel family’s hand picked antiques. High ceilings with detailed crown molding, original windows and beautiful furniture are a sight to see.

“Dr. Creel loves clocks, so we have wonderful clocks everywhere that chime all the time. He also loves chandeliers, he’s very picky about his lighting. The Creel family travels back and forth to Mississippi all the time and they bring back beautiful antiques,” Vezina said.

The relaxing area takes you back to a time when things moved slower. Visitors are served a delicious breakfast with a wonderful view.

“Everybody here loves eggs benedict, so we try to do that on the weekends all the time. If you’ve been here before, we always have people request certain things that they’ve ate before. We have a lot of people who come back again and again,” said Vezina.

Employees of the Park View say although the home is historic, there are no known ghost encounters.
