VIDEO: OCH Leaders Hold Conference Ahead Of Tuesdays Vote

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)- Leaders of OCH Regional Medical Center are fighting to keep the hospital county owned ahead of Tuesday’s vote of the potential sell of the hospital. Leaders held a press conference Thursday afternoon at the hospital.

Board of trustees and other hospital leaders wanted to inform residents on how the hospital operates and what they’ve accomplished.

Leaders say rumors on social media of financial troubles among other things shine a negative light and could impact Tuesday’s vote.

In Thursday afternoon’s press conference, staff members and the board of trustees stated that if the hospital is in fact sold, they fear recruiting could be tough.

“Sometimes to bring a doctor to a smaller town, can be a challenge, and if they think the hospital may be going through changes and be sold every other year or whatever, they may not be as inclined to come,” said Chairman of OCH Board of Trustee Linda Breazeale.

Ahead of the vote leaders say no matter the outcome, they’ll continue to work to serve their community.

Voters will head to the polls on Tuesday.
