OXFORD, Miss. (WCBI Sports) – It wasn’t a pretty win for No. 3 Ole Miss Saturday as a heavy favorite, but the Rebels held on against Vanderbilt 27-16.

The Rebels (4-0, 2-0 SEC) led 13-3 at halftime, were held twice to field goals after advancing inside the Commodores’ 10. Vanderbilt tied the game at 13 in the third quarter and came within 4, 20-16, in the 4th. A Jaylen Walton touchdown run gave the Rebels their final nine-point cushion with 6:47 remaining.

Walton, a senior, had 133 yards rushing and a touchdown while junior quarterback Chad Kelly threw for 321 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions.

Ole Miss plays at Florida next Saturday.
