Video: Owls Flying In Style With New Logo

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — The Mississippi University for Women unveiled it’s new logo for athletics Wednesday.

The logo was crafted by Joe Bosack & Co. of Pottsville, Pennsylvania, a nationally recognized firm that has created logos for the Boise State Broncos, and NCAA National Championship logos such as the Final Four.

“This gives us a face”, MUW Athletics Director Jason Trufant said.

“This takes us away from anything that’s been done in the past, brings the past with us and gives the athletic department an actual face to recruit with. This is a huge step and huge milestone for us.”

Trufant said new head volleyball coach Roxy Hernandez is out on the recruiting trail brandishing the new logo.

Trufant also said the department has candidates lined up for softball, men’s soccer, and baseball.

He expects all of those candidates to be with the program by the end of the year and athletics will kick off at “The W” in fall of 2017.
