COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)-Some young girls at Palmer Home Children in Columbus received a visit from Miss Teen Mississippi.

Girls ages 12 and up got the chance to sit down and talk one-on-one with Hattiesburg resident, Summer Morrissette.

Summer shared her story about her success and even brought the girls pillows she made herself.

Summer says it’s important to encourage younger girls to conquer their dreams.

“Palmer Home is a great place and they have helped these young girls grow spiritually and emotionally and I think it’s very important to be a role model for them to show them that there are girls out there just like them who want to make a difference and who want to make the world a better place,” says Summer Morrissette.

She took home the title of Miss Teen Mississippi in April of this year.
