Video: Reading Is In Your Nature Alligator Visit

STARKVILLE,Miss.(WCBI)—Students at Henderson Elementary School in Starkville received a treat as the Mississippi Department For Wild Life Fishery and Park paid them a visit.

As a part of the “Reading is In Your Nature” program” The 3rd and 4th grade students got the chance to see the book they just finished come to life.

The students gathered to listen to Alligator Coordinator Ricky Flyent and one of his friends talk about the nature of alligators, offered the students safety tips and answered any questions they had.

The reading program is designed to create an interest in science while also increasing literacy.

Flint says Since the students are reading about alligators he and his friend decided to pay them a visit.

“We see this as an opportunity to come here and educate these students about allIgators as they exist in mississippi and try to dispell some of the myths about allegators,” said Flyent.

The first book the students completed was,”Croccidials and AllIgators written by Seymour Simon
