VIDEO: Residents React to the Cold Temperatures

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI News)- It’s been getting colder in the Golden Triangle area.

The temperature dropped into the lower thirties for the first time this season, and the reactions from local residents are saying ‘it’s about time.’

“I love it. It’s just… I love the cold weather,” said Georgia native Sheryl Pendleton.

Some are excited to break out their winter outfits.

“Just put on some long sleeves, and it’s nice,” said Columbus resident Quendolyn Jones.

Then, there are those that think this weather is simply a fluke, and we’ll have more heat in store for us.

“Man, I think it’s up and down. I don’t even think it even knows what it wants to do.”

People from the area are also familiar with the phrase “mean heat.”

Now that the cold weather is coming, some expect a change in attitudes.

“People are actually nicer during cold weather; it’s not so hot. As most people know, Mississippi is about the hottest state around it seems,” said Columbus resident Nicole Allen.

With how the weather has been the past couple of weeks, there’s no telling if the cold is here to stay, but that’s what some hope to happen.
