Video: Saban Taking Tennessee Rivalry Seriously with Past Home Results
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WCBI/UA Athletics) – The University of Alabama football team continued its practice slate on Tuesday afternoon for this weekend’s rivalry game with Tennessee, putting in two hours of work in full pads at the Thomas-Drew Practice Fields.
The team continued to work on its gameplan for a Tennessee defense that ranks atop the Southeastern Conference in pass defense. The annual “Third Saturday in October” contest is scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. CT kickoff on CBS with Brad Nessler, Gary Danielson and Allie LaForce on the call.
Alabama and Tennessee will meet for the 100th time on Saturday. The Crimson Tide leads the all-time series, 54-37-8 (52-38-7 after vacations), and won last year’s meeting, 49-10, in Knoxville. Alabama has won the last 10 meetings between the two schools, including a 19-14 win in the Volunteers’ last visit to Tuscaloosa in 2015. Head coach Nick Saban is 12-1 in his career against Tennessee, including a 10-0 mark at Alabama. Tennessee head coach Butch Jones is 0-4 all-time against the Crimson Tide.
Earlier today, Alabama placed five players on the first-ever Associated Press Midseason All-America Team, the most of any school. Defensive backs Levi Wallace and Minkah Fitzpatrick were first-team selections, while offensive lineman Jonah Williams, center Bradley Bozeman and defensive lineman Da’Ron Payne all received second-team nods. The midseason All-America recognition was the third for both Fitzpatrick and Bozeman, the second for Wallace and the first for both Williams and Payne.
