VIDEO: Several Volunteers Come Out To Help The Starkville Area Habitat For Humanity Build A Brand New Home For A Local Family

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)- Starkville firefighters traded in their hoses and axes for hammers on Friday.

Members of the SFD joined Mississippi State student volunteers as they worked on this year’s Habitat for Humanity Maroon Edition Home on Owens Drive.

It’s being built for a mother and her two young children.

We caught up with a few of the volunteers who said they’re happy to be apart of this project.

“This is my dream job. I enjoy the work, I enjoy meeting the people, I enjoy the families, but to think that you moved a deserving family with their children into a stable home is just, really the best feeling that I can think of,” said John Breazeale, who’s with The Starkville Area Habitat For Humanity.

“I have a heart for service and I love being able to help people that are in need, that’s one reason why I want to be a physical therapist is to help people, but I also know that volunteering in a big way to get involved with the Starkville community as well,” said Samantha Headrick, who’s volunteer with Habitat for Humanity fir the second time.

Habitat for Humanity hopes to have the family moved in by Thanksgiving
