STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)- The Starkville Board of Aldermen held their council meeting Tuesday night.

The first item on the list was a public appearance by the Chief Administrator of OCH Regional Medical Center

Richard Hilton was initially going to request having the board reconsider the matter of funding for the hosptial’s ambulance service. However, Mayor Parker Wiseman informed the board the issue will be presented to the budget and audit committee instead.

Earlier in January, the board voted to suspend payments for ambulance services.

The consideration to have a part-time parking enforcement officer for downtown Starkville did pass at Tuesday night’s meeting. The motion passed in a 5 to 2 vote.

Residents working downtown say they want 2 hour parking to be better enforced.

Board members who approved the measure say they want to try it out and see if it’s effective.

Also, a Starkville couple, who claimed Starkville officers acted out of line, returned to the board of alderman meeting tonight.

Sabrina Campbell spoke at a meeting last month, saying that her daughter and husband both were unnecessarily questioned by police after a road block in their neighborhood on December 7th.

The Campbell family returned to the podium tonight to make another plea to Aldermen.

“I want a public and written apology from all three officers. Okay, and I want it public because it was public humiliation and I want them to be reprimanded properly. I don’t want them to be patted on the shoulder and say, ‘Its Ok, you can do this’ and nothing is done because to me, that is racial profiling because during that same time after they finally left my driveway, another car pulled up at my neighbor’s driveway and we’re the only African Americans in the community.  No one came down and checked her license,” says Campbell.

Chief administrative officer Lynn Spruill said that there is an ongoing investigation into the matter and that it would be discussed in executive session.
