Video: Tupelo Trio Joining Former THS Coach at ICC

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI/THS Athletics) — Itawamba Community College head men’s coach Grant Pate is getting three out of five Tupelo basketball starters in Fulton next fall.

Joseph Jones, Tre Jenkins, and EJ Fuller signed letters of intent to ICC Friday morning. The three Golden Wave athletes helped their team reach the MHSAA 6A semifinals in Jackson last month.

Jones, a 6’1″, 165 lb guard, averaged 7.7 points, 1.7 rebounds, and .5 steals in all 33 games. In the first game of the Tupelo season, Jones scored a game-high 22 points against Okolona. During his junior season, he was also selected to MaxPreps’s Dunks of the Year in with a monster And-1 slam versus Aberdeen.

Jenkins, a 6’2″, 165 lb guard, capped his senior campaign playing in all 33 contests while averaging 15.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.1 steals per game. He was also selected to the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal All-Area 1st team and the Clarion-Ledger’s #MSPreps All-State 4th team.

Fuller, a 6’3″, 170 lb forward who also played in all 33 games, found his shooting stroke mid-way through his senior year. He finished the season averaging 9.2 points and 3.2 rebounds a game. EJ also received MaxPreps Player of the Game seven times during 2015-2016.

Tupelo finished No. 3 in the final #MSPreps Super 10 poll of the season.
