Video: Woodard II Follows in Father’s Footsteps, Verbally Commits to Mississippi State

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — It was decision day for Robert Woodard II on Tuesday at Columbus High.

The blue chip recruit made it official before the Falcons’ home boys game against Starkville and he announced he will keep it in the family.

Woodard II verbally committed to Mississippi State over offers from Alabama, Memphis and Ole Miss on Tuesday.

Woodard’s father, Robert Sr., played basketball in Starkville and his son will continue the family legacy.

“Words can’t express how proud I am of him,” Robert Sr. said. “It’s a great day to be a Bulldog.”

“There were some sleepless nights last week,” Robert II said. “But after a couple days, I talked to God and he told me where to go.”

“I’m really proud of Robert because he’s worked so hard,” Robert’s mother, Velma said. “I know he’ll do great things at State and leave a legacy.”
