Video: Yellow Jacket Drive Re-Opens Bridge
STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – After a month of work, a bridge on Yellow Jacket Drive in Starkville is now open to traffic.
Workers have been busy replacing the bridge that had begun to decay and was no longer safe for travel.
Starkville City Engineer Edward Kemp says the goal was to have the bridge back open in time for the first Starkville High’s Football game.
“Yellow Jacket Drive is open for business, and is in a safe condition where vehicles can pass through it safely. Obviously, we still want people to use caution because there’s still construction materials and construction equipment there on site because we’re not fully complete with it yet. We just ask people to use caution with that,” says Kemp.
Kemp says the last phase of the project is repaving the street.
That should happen within the next 2 to 3 weeks which will reroute traffic for half a day.
