AMORY, Miss. (WCBI) – The Amory Panthers had a slow start to the season, but lately have been clicking on all cylinders. After winning 8 straight, head coach Brian Pearson says the reason behind the streak is everyone settling into their roles starting with our Athlete of the Week, Jamerison Martin.
Martin put on a show at the Monroe County tournament where in three games he averaged 24 points including a 40 point game versus Aberdeen.
Martin says he was able to put everything together once he found himself in the zone.
“Everything was just clicking,” says Martin. “I feel I just got hot. My teammates just kept me straight and told me to keep taking my shots so I just listened to my teammates and took my shots. I watch Kentucky a lot. I just watch the point guards. Guards my height so when it’s my time to play in college, I know what to do to add to my performance.”
Martin and the Panthers attempt to keep the streak in tact as they travel to Nettleton Friday in hopes of avenging an earlier loss this season.
