#WCBI Athlete of the Week: Louisville’s Ty Cooper

LOUISVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – If there’s one team that knows defense wins championships, it’s the Louisville Wildcats.

One of the key cogs to the Wildcats defense being junior defensive lineman Ty Cooper.

Cooper dominated against Kosciusko last Friday, racking up 7 tackles, a sack, and a fumble recovery for a touchdown in the 55-7 win.

The scoop and score was Cooper’s first career touchdown.

“It happened so quick,” said Cooper, “I just seen the ball on the ground. I picked it up and go for seven! I just had to get the touchdown for my team.

“I got to stay humble and grind to get there, and after that I want to get to the next level and go to the NFL.”

Cooper has recorded 15 tackles for loss, and eight sacks so far in 2019.

Louisville kicks off the playoffs this Friday at home against Yazoo City.
