“We need a different approach,” says CBP commissioner after 2nd migrant child dies in U.S. custody
Customs and Border Protection is under fire after a second migrant child died while in U.S. custody. The agency said the 8-year-old boy from Guatemala died shortly before midnight on Christmas Eve at a hospital in New Mexico. CBP announced they will now conduct secondary medical checks on all children younger than 10 years old and are also considering options to help relieve capacity issues and provide additional medical assistance. CBP commissioner Kevin McAleenan joins “CBS This Morning” from Washington to discuss the circumstances around the child’s death and the resources his agency needs.
