West Point Names New Police Chief

WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI)- The city of West Point has a new top cop. In a unanimous move, the Board of Selectmen voted in Avery Cook to be the city’s new Chief of Police.

Cook currently works as an investigator for the Clay County Sheriff’s Department, but he’s no stranger to the West Point Police station.

He previously worked at the department as assistant chief before resigning in 2013.

Chief Operating Officer, Randy Jones, says Cook’s start date hasn’t been set.
