West Point PD Gives Back
WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) – The West Point Police department is working to give the community a Merry Christmas.
Officers invited residents out to the department’s annual Toy Giveaway.
The kids got to visit with McGruff the Crime Dog, Santa’s helpers, and of course Santa and Mrs. Clause themselves.
The toys were donated by various members of the community and Thursday’s event was open to kids 12 years and younger.
WPPD Captain Virginia Rich says it’s important to give back to the community they serve.
“Because part of our vision here at the West Point Police Department incorporates the whole community and that is our focus and part of that has to do with the youth, the children of this community and it’s important for us to reach out to them in a very positive way,” says Rich.
The department also adopted two local families in need this season.
