Woman charged with child abuse after death of infant child

CLAY COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A Clay County woman was charged with child abuse after the death of a six-month-old child.

Courtney Fitzgerald, 28, remains in the Clay County jail.

Her bond was set at $100,000.

Sheriff Eddie Scott told WCBI the death investigation revealed meth in the infant’s system.

Other charges and arrests are expected.
