Woman Hurt in Afternoon Wreck

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (PRESS RELEASE) — The Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to a one vehicle accident on US 45 North around 2:59 p.m. Friday afternoon.

A black 2014 Toyota 4-Runner was traveling south on US 45 North when it veered off the right side of the highway.

The Toyota traveled down the west shoulder of the highway and up a driveway embankment at which time the vehicle became airborne colliding into a second drive way embankment which then caused the Toyota to rollover several times before coming to rest.

The driver, 21 year old AllieMarie Lane Brooks of Columbus, Mississippi sustained moderate injuries during the accident and was transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle for further medical treatment.

Ms. Brooks was not wearing her seatbelt.

The accident remains under investigation by MHP.
