Update: Second Suspect Arrested in Child Rape Case

CLAY COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — Clay County deputies make a second arrest in a child rape case.

They already have a Pheba man behind bars, accused of raping at least one juvenile.

42 year-old Wilber Shepard is charged with 10 counts of sexual battery of a child, and two counts of rape of a child.

Clay County Sheriff Eddie Scott say he’s not releasing the second suspect’s name until Thursday.

Scott says the children involved are in protective custody and being carefully monitored.

Shepard’s bond is set at $1.2 million.

Scott asks anyone with information about the allegations to call the sheriff’s department or Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers.
