Video: West Point Career Tech Center Graduates MYPI Group

WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) -In case of emergency, you may want to know a student at the Career and Technology Center in West Point.

All semester health science students have been training to prepared in emergency situations.

More than a dozen West Point students graduated Thursday with the Mississippi Youth Preparedness Initiative.

And now they are trained in CPR and as part of Community Emergency Response teams.

“We’re teaching young people a basic search training where they can know how to react during disaster. They also understand disasters and understand what the community does in case of a disaster and they get a chance to go out and teach others. ”

The Mississippi State Extension Service has worked closely with the students.

Each graduate of the program received a backpack with supplies that can be used in case of an emergency.

The West Point Career and Technology Center offers this as the only program of its kind in the Golden Triangle.
