Former North Alabama Auto Executive Indicted

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) – A federal grand jury has indicted a former Jasper car dealership executive in the theft of more than $900,000 from the Maloy Automotive Group.

U.S. Attorney Joyce White Vance said in a news release a 15 count indictment filed in U.S. District Court in Birmingham charges 59-year-old Robert Maloy with one count of conspiracy, eleven counts of wire fraud and three counts of mail fraud.

Vance said Maloy was the general manager and president of the Maloy Ford and Maloy Chrysler dealerships from 2010 until December 2013.

As general manager and president, Vance says Maloy was responsible overseeing the monthly financial statements and entering into contracts and agreements with outside vendors on behalf of the dealerships.

According to the indictment, Maloy receive money from a vendor and deposited the check into a bank account he controlled.
