ALCORN COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)- The sheriff is Alcorn County finds himself on the wrong side of the law.

Sheriff Charles Rinehart, and the owners of “Cars for Less,” are accused of working together to ensure the dealership got business from the Sheriff’s department, and at the same time the owners did not provide information on the condition of the cars.

Rinehart , Teddy and Pamela Null were arrested after a Grand Jury handed down a 10 Count indictment. State Auditor Stacey Pickering says this comes after a three year investigation.

Investigators say Sheriff Rinehart bought six cars from the Nulls. It’s alleged the cars were salvaged vehicles at the time of purchase and were rebuilt with potentially stolen parts prior to being sold to the County.

Pickering says all three were released on $25,000 bond.
