Video: 45 Four Lane Project Finally Finished

 Tupelo, Miss. – The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) is scheduled to open the new four lane section of Highway 45 from Carson Road to four miles south of U.S. Highway 82 in Lowndes County tomorrow, September 3 at approximately 9 a.m.

“The opening of this four lane section of Highway 45 is a big step in increasing safety and mobility through the region,” said Transportation Commissioner Mike Tagert. “With the opening of this last section, Highway 45 in Mississippi is now a four lane highway from the Tennessee state line at Corinth to the Alabama state line at State Line.”

Even though the new four lane section is open to traffic, MDOT crews will still be on the highway to complete the final phase of the project.

“This will remain an active construction zone for several weeks as crews work to complete the project,” said Tagert. “We ask the traveling public to continue to exercise caution and watch for our crews as they work to improve our transportation infrastructure.”
