Area Narcotics Unit Commander Steps Down

OXFORD, MS (WCBI) – The head of the Lafayette County Metro Narcotics unit is stepping down.  Captain Keith Davis says his last day with the unit was September 30th.  Davis is moving to join the Lafayette County Sheriffs  Department.  The resignation comes following a series of online articles questioning the use of college age informants to supply information about the drug trafficking in the Lafayette County, Oxford and University areas.  All three of those entities help provide funds for the unit.   Davis says the sometime critical articles did not play a role in his decision to leave the unit of which he has been a member for  nine years.
