CORINTH, Miss. (AP) – Caterpillar is expected to add more workers to its facilities in Corinth and Booneville.

The Daily Corinthian reports the company will add 41 jobs in Corinth and four in Booneville as remanufacturing of an engine line moves to Corinth.

The local plant will pick up remanufacturing of the 3500 series engine from the Caterpillar facility in Lafayette, Indiana, where new 3500 engines are produced.

Alliance President Gary Chandler says locals have been pursuing the project for several years, and that many have had a hand in landing the project.

Alcorn County Board of Supervisors President Jimmy Tate Waldon says they’re pleased with Caterpillar’s decision to relocate the 3500 engine work to Corinth.

The board will consider property tax exemption and free port warehouse exemption for the project.
