Video: Charges Filed In Tupelo PD Crash

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Tupelo police released more information Thursday about the man accused of hitting an officer’s cruiser after trying to get away from police.

Zachary Chaffin, 24, is charged with felony evading and child abuse.

Police say they tried to stop Chaffin but he refused to pull over, that’s when he hit a second patrol car.

Investigators say Chaffin tried to run away from officers after the crash on Barnes Crossing on Wednesday.

This all started with a shoplifting call at WalMart.

The child in Chaffin’s vehicle was not injured.

The officer was treated and released from the hospital.
