Clay County Man Convicted of Sexual Battery

CLAY CO. – (PRESS RELEASE) Trial of the case State of Mississippi v. Theotis Randle began at 9:00 A.M., Monday, April 6, 2015 in the Circuit Court of Clay County, Mississippi, on a charge of Sexual Battery.

Shortly after 5:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 8, 2015, after deliberating for approximately 2 hours, the 12-person jury returned a verdict of guilty as charged. At a sentencing hearing held the next day, after hearing testimony from a number of witnesses on behalf of the defendant as well as testimony from the victim, her husband, and her father, the Court sentenced the Defendant to serve a term of TWENTY years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections to be followed by FIVE years Post-Release Supervision.

Theotis Randle will also have to register for life as a Sex Offender. The case was investigated by Chief Deputy Ramirez Williams of the Clay County Sheriff’s Department. Per statute, the TWENTY year sentence will be served day-for-day.

“Nothing could have been accomplished without the courage of the victim in this case. It is almost impossible to protect people who will not help to protect themselves,” said District Attorney Forrest Allgood.
