COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – More than 100 Christmas trees went up in flames Thursday night on the banks of the Tenn-Tom River in Columbus.

The city hosted its first Christmas tree bonfire.

Firefighters lit up the pile of trees and most people watched from the recently renovated old river bridge.

Chinese lanterns were also released from the bridge before the big fire.

Hand warmers and hot chocolate were provided to help keep everyone warm.
